Our current economic system does not work for everyone.
Generations of Black and Indigenous communities and other communities of color have intentionally been—and currently are—locked out of wealth and power. Centuries of policies that systematically favor a select few cause persistent economic inequities that hold us all back. We must restore power to communities across lines of difference to model and build a future in which we all thrive.
The median white family in the U.S. has 41 times more wealth than the median Black family.
The racial wealth gap between black and white families grew from about $100,000 in 1992 to $154,000 in 2016.
Black millennials have ~$5,700 less wealth than previous generations.

Co-Create
We demonstrate what's possible by working alongside community-centered initiatives to bolster their capacity in critical areas. We identify challenges and open up opportunities, taking an active role as a designer and developer in co-creation with our partners.
Fund
We challenge the concept of traditional “investability” by building a just model of investing that shifts power to community leaders. We organize and distribute funding to support our partners and their innovative solutions. Common Future does not offer grants. We encourage you to explore our Programs for funding and support.
Influence
We uplift the models and solutions we incubate, co-create, and fund, showing the world that an equitable economy is possible and attainable. We build our influence through policy, partnerships, coalitions, funder advisory services, events, and original content.
Common Future is multiracial and women-led, with a staff and board that are majority people of color. We are audacious, expansive, and unapologetic thinkers and doers who bring lived experience to the problems we tackle.
